Bitcoin for Babies: It's never too early to teach your little ones about bitcoin. Gives trading snacks at daycare a whole new meaning... Reviews
Purchased this as a "joke present" for a baby shower. It is very basic as you would expect but for the price and audience, I would have preferred a heavier board book with a little more - more narrative, more explaining, etc. I'm sure there will be competitors in this growing field reaching out to babies / children (well, their parents and others purchasing presents for them) and this book will be one that competitors can improve upon.
I (and my baby) wanted so badly to enjoy this, but... it feels like this picture book really misses the mark. The book literally has only one 'buzzword' written on each page - no definitions, explanations, or narrative! Yes, the graphics are nice, but that doesn't necessarily make it a good, storytime baby book - especially for those looking to introduce and explain such high-level concepts to their children.
I am a bit biased because my cousin did the art on this, but it is a lot of fun. Has all the key terms you hear your nerdy friends use when talking about bitcoin, with nice visuals. Fun for you kids and I am getting a copy to leave on my desk at work just for fun. :-P
I still don't get it. Maybe I should ask a baby. This book is AWESOME! A great fun gift for techies to give to non-techie friends who ask bitcoin questions all the time.
OK - gotta admit, when I received my review copy, I didn't know what to expect. I do know the people and ideas behind it, and I'm a newly interested party to the industry, so keen to see what the idea is/was behind the book. Now I get it. And I like it. Though my boys are too old now to appreciate, I can see how this is the perfect conversation starter for parents and toddlers to start learning about - and explaining - this most exciting development of our (and their) lifetime, at least in my book. It starts, and ends, with the blockchain basics, actually forcing you to go out on a limb and learn about it first hand yourself, so as to be able to fill in the blanks - of which there is a lot, mind you (blank space, that is). Visuals are pleasing, the narrative logical, and in light of the recent price moves, I would have liked to see a page on volatility as well ... then again, that's just me :-)
I made this for my kids - nothing like some light educational bedtime reading. Couldn't be more timely. I hope your kids enjoy it as much as mine do. I may or may not have told my daughter that "Satoshi" lives on Sesame Street next door to Elmo...
